The best foods to eat after wisdom teeth removal are soft creamy foods that cannot get stuck in the hole where the tooth was. You should also avoid very small foods such as rice, or crushed nuts. You will need to keep a piece of gauze in place for the first 10 hours or so after your surgery and during this time, you will only be able to drink liquids. So make sure you stock up on drinks such as protein shakes and fruit juices.

You should avoid any food that needs to be served hot as it could cause the forming blood clot to burst and will therefore prolong your recovery time. Good foods to eat are porridge, yogurt, milk shakes and fresh fruit smoothies. Drinkable yogurts are also available in many stores which are ideal to provide nutrients during wisdom teeth removal recovery. Should you decide to eat some ice cream, make sure that it does not contain small bits – such as pieces of dried fruit or nuts.
